Stretching Exercises For Fitness

Stretching exercises for fitness:

Stretching exercises should be an essential part of anyone who performs keep fit or exercises in any way.

Stretching your arms and legs will help to keep the muscles and tendons in them more flexible and help to prevent injury to them.

As you become older it is more important as the natural elasticity of your muscles and tendons starts to decrease.

One of the simplest stretching exercises is to stand with your legs together and bending at the waist (but not your knees) bend down with your arms and try to touch the tips of your toes.

You must do this gently as with all stretching exercises.

You may not be able to touch your toes to start with, but try this a couple of times each day and you will find that your leg muscles becomes more flexible and that within time you probably will increase the length you can stretch.

This exercise helps your hamstrings and leg muscles and is good to do a few of these before you start an activity that involves using your leg muscles.

If you are going to use your arms for some exercise such as swimming there is another good exercise:

For this you will need a towel.

Stand and with the towel clasped firmly in both hands, bring it above your head, holding the towel at both ends.

Now bring the towel down in front of you pulling the ends of the towel tightly apart.

Then bring the towel up above your head again, still pulling the towel apart at both ends tightly.

With the towel above your head, bring your hands a little closer to each other, then pull at both ends.

You will be exercising your arms and lattice muscles behind your shoulders when you perform this exercise.

Keep performing this exercise until your hands are touching each other.

You will find that if you go swimming after this exercise, you will have more strength in your arms and that your arms will not ache.
