How to get a flat stomach with cardio:

One of the great things about cardio is that it burns calories and is therefore and ideal form of exercise for giving you a flat stomach.

There are many forms of exercise that will help to improve your stomach muscles, such as stomach crunches, but if you are overweight and have a lot of fat covering your stomach, then the stomach muscles beneath will not show.

This is why you need to participate in some cardio.

Cardio exercises are those that make your heart beat faster such as swimming, running, jogging and cycling to name the most popular ones.

If you are not very fit and want to start, walking fast or walking up a hill will count as a good cardio exercise.

Before you start cardio, it is always a good idea to gently stretch the muscles you are going to use and have a warm up period, to avoid muscle strains and pulls.

A good exercise to strengthen your leg muscles, and as you will be using your leg muscles more than any other for cardio (it is well worth improving these muscles)
is squats.

To perform squats, stand upright with your feet about two feet apart with your hands resting on your thighs and move your body down vertically, bending at the knees, then use your legs to push your body upright.

Do this about ten times, or what feels comfortable.

You will feel your legs working hard and you will soon notice that your legs strengthen.

Within just a few days you will notice that running or cycling becomes easier as your legs have more strength in them, enabling you to perform cardio more effectively.

As your cardio sessions increase in time and intensity over the weeks you will soon lose those extra pounds and notice that you have a flat stomach.
